No. Device Finder mode in Chanalyzer also works with the standard omni-directional antenna by walking around and playing hot and cold. The directional antenna lets you determine which direction the transmitter is in while standing still, which is much faster in large spaces.

If an interference source is strong enough to disrupt Wi-Fi, Device Finder will find it. It can locate cordless phones, analog wireless video cameras, baby monitors, speakers, blood platelet machines, really anything that can disrupt Wi-Fi.
